ABOUT

TIM MORCOM P.Ag., BSc.

Vegetable Specialist

Tim holds a BSc in plant science and is in the process of completing his MSc, both at Dalhousie University. His master’s research examines the potential of nutrient-enriched biochar as an organic slow-release fertilizer reducing leaching while also sequestering carbon. The project repurposes Nova Scotia agriculture industry waste streams, using biochar made from crab shells and enriched with cow urine.

Tim has worked at Dalhousie University’s agricultural campus in a number of capacities, including managing the campus market garden and as a horticultural technician. For several years he coordinated a number of Dalhousie agronomy trials, liasing with farmers, government and industry across Nova Scotia to research cutting edge field crop management techniques and best practices. He is also a skilled market gardener; for the past two years he has run his own half-acre family farm, growing vegetables, herbs, small fruit and cut flowers for a CSA program and for sale at the Truro Farmers’ Market.

Tim is a Professional Agrologist with particular passions for innovative farming techniques, biointensive production and soil health. He is thrilled to share and continue to grow his expertise as part of the Perennia team.
